Long Cooking Crockpot Recipes

By Linda Larsen, About.com

This may seem like a strange title for a site devoted to quick cooking, but slow cooker recipes that cook for at least 10 hours are really a necessity for today's busy cook. Work days plus commuting time usually adds up to at least 10 hours. Recipes that cook in 5-6 hours, even on low, just won't work for many families.

It is possible, with the newer slow cookers, to set a timer and let the crockpot sit for up to 2 hours before the cooking process begins. This type of cooking is safe, but I personally prefer a recipe that already has a longer cooking time.

Read these recipes carefully; some use more delicate ingredients that need to be added in the last 20-30 minutes of cooking time. Stir your meal thoroughly before you serve it. If you're at home, these recipes can be cooked on HIGH for 5-6 hours And enjoy these slow cooking, long cooking crockpot recipes.
