If a recipe calls for bulk sausage, you can just purchase your favorite type of link sausage, remove the casings, and crumble the sausage. Also, any favorite recipe that calls for ground beef or other ground meats, or chopped ham can usually be made with sausage.
Be sure to carefully follow the storage, cooking, and serving instructions on the packages of sausages you purchase. If a sausage is raw, it must be cooked to 155 degrees Fahrenheit, until the juices are no longer pink. Fully cooked, smoked, and cured sausages generally taste better if gently heated, but are usually safe to eat right out of the package.
